Jackie Chan has blogged about his involvement in an Operation Smile surgery carried out in Vietnam last month.

Martial arts movie star Jackie Chan will arrive in Hanoi on November 4 as an ambassador for Operation Smile on the organisation’s 20th anniversary in Vietnam.

To mark 20 years of providing new smiles for children and young adults throughout Vietnam, Operation Smile, Inc. and Operation Smile Vietnam will launch “20 Years of Smiles – A Journey of Miracles” from November 4 – 14, 2009.

Operation Smile is joining the United States Navy's hospital ship, USNS Mercy, during its summer 2008 humanitarian civic assistance deployment. Operation Smile will be working side-by-side on the USNS Mercy in four countries: Philippines, Vietnam, Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea.

John McCain's wife on Thursday toured a hospital in which Operation Smile was arranging for children with facial deformities to receive free plastic surgery aboard US Navy hospital ship USNS Mercy, docked off Nha Trang.

More than 200 children from the southernmost province of Ca Mau with facial deformities will receive free surgery from the Operation for Children’s Smile programme.
